Current website revision nearly completed
Having now reached the point where over 50% of the (approx 200) links pages have been double checked, updated and checked once more for luck I have finally updated the website.
What is available online is still a work in progress however so (although most of the links should work) be prepared for occasional spelling mistakes, typos and other minor errors.
Mostly4Macs.co.uk - welcome to the website
Somehow or other you have arrived at the Mostly 4 Macs website. It doesn't matter whether this occurred by accident, following someone's recommendation, from a link somewhere else, or through a search engine - everyone is just as welcome.
Just incase you're wondering, the name of "Mostly 4 Macs" actually refers to the number of computers being used back in 2004 when I officially started working on a self employed basis.
This was a tongue in cheek reaction to a conversation which I over heard while waiting for something to be finished off in a copy shop. This conversation was between two business men and one was describing the people who had done some graphic design work for him as "just two kids with a Mac".
Most of the content on Mostly4Macs.co.uk generally falls into one of four categories (and is located in one of four areas): Blog, Resources, Links and Services.
The Blog Pages contain a slightly random collection of thoughts and opinions with a vaguely technology based theme.
The Resources Pages contain a small selection of snippets which some people may find useful.
The Links Pages (also known as Yet Another List Of Stuff On The Internet) are probably the most likely reason for people to visit the website.
And finally the pages at mostly4macs.co.uk/services provide an overview of the sort of work which Mostly 4 Macs undertakes.
One of the main reasons that the Mostly4Macs.co.uk website originally got created was to provide somewhere that it would be possible to answer some of the most common questions which I get asked relating to iPods, the internet, websites and computers in general.
These sorts of questions will often be things like:-
"why does it do that?"
"how do I get it to do this?"
"what does this mean?"
"where can I find x, y and z?"
I do not charge anything for people to access or make use of the resources, information and links which I have included on the Mostly4Macs.co.uk website.
Feel free to read it, feel free to make use of it (as long as you don't break the terms of any Creative Commons or other copyright licences which relate to the design, content and images), and rest assured that there is no charge for doing this.
However,
if you want me to fix your iPod,
if you want me to visit you at home and teach you how to use your computer,
if you want me to build, host or maintain a website for you,
if you want me to install, set up, fix, or upgrade your computer
then I'm afraid that it is highly unlikely that I will do these things free of charge.
Having said that, I do work on a self employed basis (trading as Mostly 4 Macs) carrying out computer related work.
If you want to find out more about what services I can offer and what I charge then please contact me.
recent website news
No more website updates just yet
Because the links pages are going to be central to meeting my aims for the website (ie. providing the information people ask me for most frequently) I've decided to spend the next month or two concentrating on the the links.
The resources sections for the website are still being worked on in the background, but most of these probably won't appear online until at least the beginning of March 2007.
The resources will be appearing however and I want to empahsise that the completed website will include a link directory, but will not turn into just a link directory.
While the lists of links are a useful way of helping answer many questions I get asked the resources will also play a significant part.
